The State Government recently announced that the $13,000 First Home Owner's Bonus will be ending on June 30, 2012. 

With the current First Home Owners Grant and Victorian Bonus, first home buyers can receive $20,000 when building a new home or $26,500 when building a new home in a rural area.

To qualify for the First Home Owners Grant you must;

  • be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
  • never have owned a residential property in any State or Territory of Australia
  • never previously received a First Home Owners Grant from any State or Territory of Australia
  • be 18 years of age or older
  • occupy the home as principal place of residence for a continuous period of at least 6 months within 12 months of the completion of the First Home Owners Grant transaction.
