Kirby Laycock, 22, is dying to choose the fixtures
and fittings for her first home after winning $21,000 in a competition from Homebuyers Centre.

"I can't wait - I have to choose pretty much everything - the roof, the benchtops, the oven and even all of the door handles," she said.

"It's definitely more exciting moving into a house when you've had the chance to choose those things."

The company offered to double the First Home Owners Boost grant for one winner to help them buy a home or house and land package with a $42,000 head start - $21,000 from the government and $21,000 from the company.

Sales manager Luke Milanko said the competition had been so successful it was being run again over June, July and August.

"The same prize money is up for grabs and only 3 months' worth of entries this time so the chances are even better," he said.

Ms Laycock, an administration co-ordinator for a construction company, had her name drawn after entering online.

She has now signed up for a house and land package in Ellenbrook and has chosen the Greenwich design from the Avenues range.

"It's a three-bedroom, two-bathroom with a studio inside and an alfresco outside," she said.

"The studio is like a second lounge room and it's right next to my bedroom."

She said winning the competition was exciting because it had made a new home possible.

"It would definitely have been more difficult without that money and I would probably have bought something older," she said.

According to the information from the company, anyone who is eligible to receive the First Home Owners Boost who is considering building or buying a new home can enter online.

They will be asked to enter their name, phone number and the amount they're paying in rent and when the competition closes the winner will be drawn.

The can use the grant as their deposit and the extra $21,000 to provide a discount off the home.

The company has more than 70 designs and also ready-built homes, including the Flutes terrace-style homes.
