Innovation in the housing industry is not all about edgy design features or out-there aesthetics. It can also be about the concept itself, as is the case with Homebuyers Centre's Primo collection of house-and-land packages.

Offering a clever design which provides an affordable and space-efficient housing solution the Primo turnkey house-and-land packages sold out in a single weekend earlier this year.

Homebuyers Centre will launch a second release of 10 homes at Ellenbrook in late November or early December, with construction scheduled for completion in March. Prices start from $278,000.

According to Homebuyers Centre's general manager Greg Carter, the Primo designs maximise their 5m-wide, 150sqm lots while achieving a feeling of openness and a connection with the environment.

"As the floor area of the homes is relatively small, it was considered most important to add volume to the homes with the inclusion of high ceilings to the entry area, bedrooms and bathroom, and raking ceilings to the kitchen, dining and living areas," he said.

"Also, it was considered important to provide a relatively high level of specification for these homes to give them an 'up-market apartment' feel. Items such as stone benchtops, low-voltage light fittings and timber flooring have proven to be most desirable."

Paying special attention to the design of the outdoor living areas means the usable space on the block is maximised.

"We have designs with the outdoor living space at the front of the home to enable interaction with the adjoining public open space and designs with the outdoor living space to the rear of the home to provide a private area for outdoor activities," Mr Carter said.
