Homebuyers Centre a big help when building
Writer:

For many people there is nothing more rewarding than building their own
home
– weekends spent searching for that
perfect block
, finding a builder, the right design, then being involved in the
building process
from start to finish.
Then there are others who baulk at the process, but still want a brand new home in the suburb of their choice.
Which makes them perfect contenders for a
home and land package
.
Craig and Tamara Bowyer were organising a wedding when they started looking for a new home. What may have turned out to be an overwhelming set of decision-making between the two events became much easier when they met Ryan Webb, a sales consultant at the Homebuyers Centre.
“The Homebuyers Centre was really great, guiding and informing us, showing us
blocks of land
and
house plans,”
Mrs Bowyer said.
“They did all the hard work – it just seemed the right way to go for us.”
The couple were conscious of finding a
reputable builder.
“We had family and friends who got caught out during the last boom, and their homes took two to three years,” Mr Bowyer said, “Our home was ready within 9 months.”
Once the couple had chosen their Banksia Grove
block
, they were shown a series of
plans,
from which they were able to make several changes that suited them.
“We turned the carport into a garage, we wanted a twin shower in the ensuite and a bigger alfresco area,” Mrs Bowyer said.
“The variations were no problem.”
Choices in fixtures and fittings, such as paint colours, tiling, benchtops and flooring, were also easy.
The Bowyers were provided with a short list of suppliers, and were able to inspect before they made their choices. Alternate specification upgrades were available if they wanted.
