The Green is ready for all the changes in a growing family

writes Cathy Watts.

A long planter box, gable and rendered wall frame a big front window to create a striking façade to The Green display home in Banksia Grove. The four-bedroom, two-bathroom home by Homebuyers Centre also has a generous-sized porch sheltering the front door and matching sidelight.

Homebuyers Centre sales and marketing manager Jared Stone said the objective when designing the home was to create a home for first-homebuyers that was not only affordable but functional.

This home, as were all its homes, was targeted to first-homebuyers.

First-homebuyers needed designs that gave them room to grow as a couple or family as well as designs that suited their current lifestyle, he said.

It had an open-plan living area that flowed on to the alfresco area to make entertaining easy.

A displayed study could be converted into a fourth bedroom if required.

The main bedroom suite has the big feature window set forward in a recess, creating room for a sofa or easy chair.

There is a walk-in robe and the well-appointed ensuite has a double vanity, long mirror, built-in shower and a separate toilet.

A door to the double garage opens from the entry, opposite an art recess.

The open-plan living area includes a kitchen, family and dining areas and an alfresco entertaining area under the main roof.

A semi-enclosed multi purpose room opens off the living area.

In the display this room is a study but it could easily be a fourth bedroom. The generous size and handy location mean the room could also be used as a theatre room or even an activity room for young children.

The galley-style kitchen has a long island bench which doubles as a breakfast bar. Against the back wall is a bench with a big pantry at one end and a fridge recess at the other. The bench has a gas hotplate, underbench oven, exhaust hood and tiled splashback.

The living areas have several windows and a sliding glass door to the alfresco area, creating a connection between indoors and out.

The remaining two bedrooms, bathroom and laundry are at the back of the home.

The bedrooms have robe recesses, the bathroom has a bath and built-in shower, and there is a separate toilet.

The laundry has a linen cupboard and a sliding glass door to the outside.

The Green has a total area of 224sqm and will fit on a lot with a 14m frontage.
