Budget buying has never been this modern as Maureen Eppen discovers in a new display home that combines a number of successful designs.

Stacked dark face bricks and a semi-translucent sectional garage door with aluminium framing give the new Indigo display, by Homebuyers Centre, striking street appeal.

The face bricks are used for a three-quarter height feature wall below a corner window that extends below the eaves.

Inside, the four-bedroom, two-bathroom home has a versatile and practical layout that is familiar yet fresh, with it’s main living areas enhanced by raised ceilings and extensive glazing.

The main suite is built to a high standard, the kitchen is stylish and functional. There are strong visual and physical links between the living zone and an alfresco area under the main roof.

Sales and marketing manager Jared Stone said the design for the Indigo was similar to previous Homebuyers Centre homes, but had been upgraded and updated in response to feedback from clients.

“We understand that at our end of the market the main issues we face are affordability, you can go to town and do whatever you like with a house, but we are here to help first-homebuyers get into the market, so affordability is the first thing we look at.

“We ask ourselves how we can make the house suit our clients for the lifestyle they want now, the ability for growth for them as a couple or family and to sell it on to another first-homebuyer or another young family later.

“We feel we have achieved balance with this design; with the number of rooms, the zoning of the house, the open-plan living area flowing out to the alfresco area, the minor bedrooms to the rear, and the front area with bedroom one and the theatre.”

Mr Stone said the main suite was often the first area comprised in order to make a home more affordable, but in the Indigo, the main suite included twin walk-on robes, a big shower, broad vanity unit with square form top and separate toilet.

While the Indigo’s primary market is probably first-homebuyers, Mr Stone said it would also suit investors, second-homebuyers on a tight budget, or empty nesters and retirees looking for an attractive, well-priced, mid-sized home.

An alternative version of this home, the Alfresco Ultimate, can be built from $139,200.
