First-time buyers given room to grow

A long planter box, gable and rendered wall frame a big front window to create a striking façade to the Green display home in Banksia Grove.

The four-bedroom, two-bathroom home by the Homebuyers Centre, also has a generous-sized porch sheltering the front door.

Homebuyers Centre sales and marketing manager Jared Stone said the objective when designing the home was to create a home for first-time buyers.

This meant that the home had to be not only affordable but also functional.

“This home, as are all our homes, is targeted to first-homebuyers,” Mr Stone said.

“First-homebuyers not only need designs that suit their current lifestyle but also designs that give them room to grow as a couple or family.

“We regularly react to feedback from our consultants and clients to create designs that suit today’s lifestyles.”

The home was zoned for privacy as well as heating and cooling, he said.

It had an open-plan living area which flowed into the alfresco area to make entertaining easy – always one of the requirements of the homebuyer.

A study in the displayed house could be converted into a fourth bedroom if required, he said.

However, he added that because if its size and location the room could be used as a theatre. It would also work as an activity room for young children.

The name the Green is a reflection of the Banksia Grove suburb which is dotted with public open spaces and parklands.

The main suite has a big feature window, creating room for a sofa or easy chair.

There is a walk-in robe and the well-appointed ensuite has a double vanity, long mirror,
built-in shower and a separate toilet.

A door to the double garage opens from the entry, opposite an art recess.

The open-plan living area includes the kitchen, family and dining areas.

An alfresco entertaining area is situated under the main roof.

A semi-enclosed multi-purpose room opens off the living area.

The galley-style kitchen has a long island bench which doubles as a breakfast bar.

Against the back wall is a bench with a big pantry at one end and a fridge recess at the other.

The bench has a gas hotplate, an underbench oven, exhaust hood and a tiled splashback.

The living areas have several windows and a sliding glass door to the alfresco area, creating a connection between indoors and out.

The remaining two bedrooms, bathroom and laundry are at the back of the home.

The bedrooms have robe recesses, the bathroom has a bath and built-in shower, and there is a separate toilet.

The laundry has a line cupboard and a sliding door to outside.

The Green has a total area of 224sqm and will fit onto a block with a 14m frontage.
